“The principle is competing against yourself. It’s about self-improvement, about being better than you were the day before.”
-Steve Young, former American professional football player, NFL MVP, member of the College and Pro Football Hall of Fame
When we work with students, we often encourage them to focus on their own journey, to look only at their own progress, and to keep moving forward towards improvement, even if it consists only of small steps.
As a company, we must do the same. Continuous improvement and self-awareness are embedded in our ethos, and each quarter, each semester, each year we seek to reflect on our performance and identify ways to improve.
This year, we have joined the “Best for NYC” challenge to encourage us to do more to help support the economy, the environment, and the collective well-being of our world.
One small step we have taken is to switch the paper vendor in our Westchester office to New Leaf Paper, an impressive producer of environmentally responsible, economically sound paper.
Other efforts we are engaging in are to offer skill-based professional development to our 300+ employees and to seek opportunities for us to recruit and hire individuals who traditionally have met barriers to employment.
The road is long and eternal, but we are committed to staying the course and doing our part to get better than we were yesterday.
