A Coach to Keep You Accountable: The Story of Olivia and Her Coach Jeremy
Various students use College Transitions coaches for various reason, sometimes, it’s simple a way to keep you on track. CTP Coach Jeremy shares Olivia’s story, a student he worked with last year who simply needed some help being accountable.
“During her first semester, Olivia struggled to balance her social life and schoolwork, resulting in grades that flirted with academic probation. She knew she needed immediate help prioritizing or face failure, so she began meeting weekly with me before the start of her second semester. Together we developed a weekly work schedule tailored around her class syllabi and set specific deadlines for Olivia to meet to finish her work and balance her academic commitments with those of her sorority.
We worked together to create clear and achievable semester long goals and met weekly to continue to work on study skills, note taking, communication with professors, developing a weekly plan, and general troubleshooting with regard to general issues she was having at school.
Possibly what was most valuable for her was to have someone she could relate with who could hold her accountable for her academic goals in a social environment where that was not the priority. Olivia thrived last semester; she finished second semester with a semester GPA one full point higher. She struck a great balance between her social and academic life, and we worked together to help her reclaim her education.”
